A gift in your Will can help us get to zero deaths from prostate cancer.

A fight we can win, together

By remembering PCFA in your Will, you can help us get to zero deaths from prostate cancer. Your legacy can help create a world where no man has to live in fear of a prostate cancer diagnosis.

How your Gift can help

Our vision is for a future where no man
dies of prostate cancer.

Gifts in Wills are vital to making this vision a reality. By including PCFA in your Will, you can be remembered for creating a life-changing legacy. Your gift will help lead the way towards zero deaths from prostate cancer.

A future free from prostate cancer is within our grasp and your gift can help make it happen.

PCFA has invested over $70 million in prostate cancer research over the past two decades, contributing to a worldwide body of evidence that is improving outcomes for men.

Your legacy gift can reveal new horizons that will get us closer to our ultimate goal of a world with zero deaths from prostate cancer.

Importantly, we will apply your legacy gift to strengthen research, awareness and support for men, by:

Driving Research

Prostate cancer is a leading cause of death in Australian men. But it doesn’t have to be. Your gift will help drive the research and ground-breaking discoveries that lead to better outcomes for men with prostate cancer, for years to come.

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help find new and innovative ways to treat prostate cancer.

Building Awareness

Early detection is key to survival, yet only around 36% of prostate cancers in Australia are detected at Stage 1, when the disease can be more effectively treated. Your support can help encourage more men to get tested, improve early detection rates and save men’s lives.

Your legacy can help fund awareness and education programs to stop men dying from prostate cancer.

Providing Support

Many men diagnosed with life-threatening prostate cancer face a painful and uncertain future. At PCFA, we’re committed to providing every man and his family with the care and support they need to navigate their diagnosis and treatment, so they know they’re not alone.

With a gift in your Will, you can help provide support programs that improve quality of life for men with prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer has haunted the men in Tim’s family for generations. His father had it, and his father before him, “Even my grandfather’s brother had prostate cancer. And he died from it,” Tim says.

When Tim was 50, his urologist gave him the news he’d been dreading – he had prostate cancer. “While it was a shock to me and a concern, I always expected it. I just thought I would hear it a little later than 50.”

A year later, Tim’s prostate cancer had progressed, “The cancer had advanced to a Gleason seven, and I made up my mind that I was going to have a radical prostatectomy. Once I made that decision, I couldn’t get my prostate out fast enough!”

Thankfully, Tim’s operation was a success. Over the next few months, his condition improved, and his PSA became undetectable.

Today, Tim is passionate about spreading awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of regular testing. He’s also a dedicated supporter of PCFA, who championed many of the medical advancements that helped save his life.

To protect his son, future grandsons and all Australian men, Tim has decided to leave a gift in his Will to PCFA to support the research and advancements that are getting us closer than ever to a cure.

"Survival rates and successful treatments for prostate cancer are now in the favour of the patient compared to 20 or 30 years ago. And it will continue to get better with ongoing research and clinical trials.”

Anyone can leave a gift in their Will. Every gift, large or small, can have a big impact, ensuring our research, advocacy, and support services for people affected by prostate cancer can continue well into the future.

I already have a Will, do I need to make a new Will?

add remove

Your Will records your wishes at a particular point in time. It is important to regularly review your Will as your circumstances change to ensure that it accurately reflect your current wishes. If your current Will still accurately reflects your wishes, or if there has been a significant change in your circumstances, it may be necessary to make a new Will. You should speak to your solicitor about whether a new Will or a Codicil - a short legal amendment to your Will - is appropriate for the updates you wish to make.

Can I specify where my gift goes?

add remove

Yes, you can specify how you want your gift to be used. However, it’s worth remembering that most gifts in Wills aren’t realised for many years. If you include a gift for our general purposes, it means we can fund the most significant project at the time, to make the most impact in our fight to help Australians with prostate cancer.

If you have a specific purpose in mind, we recommend discussing this with us before finalising your Will, to ensure that your wishes can be carried out.
